RESPONSIBILITY: OUR CONTRIBUTION

As an international group of companies, we not only operate worldwide, but thanks to our diversification, we are also at home in a variety of industries. This comes with a responsibility towards society and the environment, which we strive to fulfil through our actions. Together with our nearly 8,300 employees, we therefore pursue the goal of making a positive contribution to the future.

We are guided by the same values that have always defined us as a family-run group of companies: responsibility, reliability and quality. These values shape our actions, our decisions and our commitment to operating sustainably and successfully, even in a changing environment.

01

SUSTAINABILITY:
A HOLISTIC APPROACH

We see sustainability not only as a goal, but as a strategic guiding principle. Accordingly, we align our initiatives within the three central areas of action: ecology, social responsibility and governance. We want to assume ecological and social responsibility and strengthen transparent, responsible corporate governance. This holistic approach is the key to our long-term stability and future-oriented business operations.

GOVERNANCE: SHAPING THE FUTURE TOGETHER

Sustainability cannot be achieved overnight – it is an ongoing process with different challenges and opportunities for our business areas. Our group companies pursue individual sustainability strategies, goals and measures – tailored to their respective conditions and industries. We support this approach by promoting group-wide exchange and providing advice and support.

Our Co-CEO Ferdinand Oetker has overall responsibility for sustainable corporate development. At the group company level, this task lies with the respective management. Strategic and operational goals and measures are defined, managed and evaluated by sustainability experts. The group-wide Sustainability Community connects sustainability officers, supports knowledge transfer and enables the development of joint approaches.

Materiality analysis for real impact

We want our sustainability activities to start where we can be most effective. A double materiality analysis helps us identify relevant issues – both in terms of our potential impact on the environment and society and their significance for our company. The findings support our group companies in further developing existing strategies in a targeted manner and making informed decisions for the future.

Reporting and management with comprehensive ESG software

Reliable data is the basis for effective sustainability management. That is why we use group-wide ESG software to create uniform standards. This not only improves comparability and data quality, but also allows us to track developments and the effectiveness of measures taken. This provides us with valuable insights for the further development of our sustainability activities.

Partnership-based supply chain management

Sustainable and resilient supply chains are a central component of our value creation. That is why we are committed to promoting and safeguarding social and environmental standards. Our risk management is based on the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) in order to identify potential impacts on people and the environment at an early stage and take countermeasures. We work closely with our partners to promote transparency and continuously improve conditions in our global supply networks.

Investments in climate protection

Climate change affects our supply chains and value creation. We therefore consider climate protection to be an essential factor for long-term economic stability. Our companies collect relevant environmental data such as their CO₂e emissions (Scope 1, 2 and 3) in line with their business models. They define individual reduction targets and develop company-specific measures to reduce emissions. One focus is on expanding renewable energies, primarily through photovoltaic systems. In 2024, 13 new systems were commissioned at the same number of locations, with more planned.

Employees as the key to sustainable change

Sustainability requires knowledge, dialogue and a willingness to change. That is why we promote our employees’ understanding of sustainability through training, information material and internal formats. The company-wide Sustainability Community connects sustainability managers from across the Group, promotes mutual exchange and the implementation of measures.

Human Rights Strategy

We are committed to complying with human rights standards. Our policy statement defines the principles that guide our business activities and provides a framework for fulfilling our responsibility towards people and the environment.

Code of Conduct

Integrity and responsible behaviour are the foundation of our success. Our Code of Conduct sets out the principles for ethical and sustainable behaviour – both within our company and in our cooperation with our partners.

Further information on the sustainability activities of our group companies can be found directly on their websites.
